Saturday night at Texas Motor Speedway belonged to #73 John Crosby, who swept the weekend by converting his pole position into a commanding race victory in Round 6 of the RFRL Pro Truck Season. Crosby led 104 of 120 laps in a race that produced six lead changes and, remarkably, not a single caution flag across the full distance. The win is Crosby's fourth of the season in the series, and it arrives at exactly the right moment, as the points standings begin to take a more defined shape heading into the second half of the schedule.
The battle behind Crosby produced some of the night's most compelling racing. #77 Anthony Hardin, starting from eighth, worked his way forward to claim the runner-up spot, his first podium finish in the series. #80 Dylan Gruetzmacher came home fourth after starting seventh, while #9 Tiyler Walts lost three spots from his P6 starting position to finish ninth, and #71 Tommy Wynne faded from second on the grid all the way to thirteenth despite leading 12 laps during the race. On the other end of the fortune spectrum, #16 Robert Walton drew the most scrutiny, posting seven incidents from a P4 start and sliding to sixteenth at the flag.
The hard charger award went to #60 Brian Sousa, who delivered one of the night's most impressive performances by charging from 16th on the grid all the way to the podium in third — a gain of 13 positions. Sousa also led two laps during his run, underscoring the pace he had underneath him throughout the 120-lap contest. It was a result that also carries significant points implications, as Sousa's first podium in the series comes at a crucial time with 14 races remaining on the schedule.
The championship picture sharpens considerably after Texas, with Crosby now sitting atop the standings at 226 points, holding a 31-point advantage over Sousa in second and a 43-point gap over #5 Brandon Hinton in third, who also charged forward 12 spots to finish fifth. #68 Tom Ringer sits fourth at 173 points despite a difficult night that saw him drop seven positions from his P5 start. Robert Walton rounds out the top five at 169 points, though his seven-incident evening will give him plenty to address before the next round. With 14 races still on the calendar, the gap between Crosby and the chasing pack remains very much a live fight.
