Tom Ringer delivered one of the most striking performances of the RFRL Elite NextGen Series season at World Wide Technology Raceway on Thursday night, charging from 17th on the grid to victory lane in the 110-lap event at Gateway. The #68 machine threaded through a 20-car field across 110 laps marked by four cautions and 12 caution laps, turning a back-of-grid starting spot into a race win that leaves him just one point behind the series standings leader heading into Round 7. Ringer, who crossed the stripe without a single incident on his scorecard, led 5 of the 110 laps — enough to be in front when it counted most — as seven lead changes over the course of the race kept the order fluid and the outcome far from settled.

The front of the field told a contrasting story. Pole sitter David Westergreen in the #91 led a race-high 42 laps but ultimately finished fifth, surrendering the lead late and unable to recover to the front. #73 John Crosby, who started third, led 30 laps before falling all the way to 16th at the checkered flag — a devastating result for a driver who clearly had the car to contend. #74 Tyler Smith ran 29 laps at the front and held on for third despite accumulating 12 incidents, giving him his second podium result of the season. It was the #73 and #91 who largely shaped the race's middle chapters, only for neither to convert their pace into points.

Carlos Acosta in the #2 crossed second for what is his first podium finish in the Elite NextGen Series, collecting 35 points from a ninth-place starting spot. Behind him, #71 Tommy Wynne came home fourth from seventh on the grid, while #48 Chuck Burley delivered a quiet, clean run from 14th to sixth with zero incidents. #60 Brian Sousa gained six positions from 13th to seventh, and #3 Shaun Dionne moved up seven spots from 15th to eighth in a strong mid-pack effort. At the other end of the ledger, #13 Cody Deak started fourth and finished 11th with 14 incidents — the highest incident count of the race — and #73 Crosby's collapse from third to 16th stand as the night's sharpest downward swings.

With 19 races still on the schedule, the Elite NextGen Series points battle is razor-thin at the top. Brandon Hinton holds the lead with 190 points, but Tom Ringer's Gateway win vaults him to second just one point back at 189. Tommy Wynne sits third at 180, keeping him within striking distance of both drivers ahead. Colton Miller dropped eight positions on the night — from second to tenth — and slots fourth at 158 points, while Chuck Burley's sixth-place run moves him to fifth at 157. Hinton's one-point cushion over a driver who just won from 17th on the grid underscores how little margin for error exists at the front of this title fight.
